賦能工具

奧巴馬是不是個好總統,暫且不論。然而他一定是個聰明絕頂之人,以下他的說法,我在心中已久,但以我表達力就講不出來了。


他批評ipad等電子產品時說:(原文

You’re coming of age in a 24/7 media environment that bombards us with all kinds of content and exposes us to all kinds of arguments, some of which don’t always rank all that high on the truth meter.

With iPods and iPads and Xboxes and PlayStations, — none of which I know how to work — information becomes a distraction, a diversion, a form of entertainment, rather than a tool of empowerment, rather than the means of emancipation.


他再說:

All of this is not only putting new pressures on you, it is putting new pressures on our country and on our democracy… We can’t stop these changes… but we can adapt to them,

Education… can fortify you, as it did earlier generations, to meet the tests of your own time.

就在一天前,奧巴馬剛與iPad創造者喬布斯(Steve Jobs)見過面。奧巴馬今年5月曾批評過現代媒體,包括iPad等電子產品,當時他向一批學生說﹕「iPod、iPad和Xbox以及PlayStation,我一概不知道怎麼用。資訊已變成讓人分心、轉移焦點的東西,(這些產品)是一種娛樂形式,而非賦能工具。」

有朋友不同意。當然啦,佛祖用ipad是不會心力渙散的,成年人也許不會,但新一代小孩呢?

我擁有ipod,還好它毒害小得多。它不會叫我,主宰權都在我手上。其實ipod跟當年walkman一樣,只是令你更容易孤立自己吧了──當年walkman剛出時,大家都這樣批評,也是事實。

至於其他會主宰你控制你的電子產品,十年後再說吧。
